Tads
Temporary anchorage devices (TADs) are small titanium anchors that enhance tooth movement more efficiently and comfortably in certain orthodontic cases, serving as an alternative to headgear or supplementing braces.
How TADs are Placed:
A strong anesthetic numbs the area before your orthodontist inserts the TAD through the gum into the jawbone. The process is swift and you might feel some pressure, but this sensation fades quickly. TADs are removed after they are no longer needed, which is a quick and comfortable procedure.
Managing Discomfort:
Minor discomfort from TAD placement can be alleviated with Tylenol. Contact your dentist if discomfort persists.
Cleaning Your TAD:
Maintain the cleanliness of your TAD by brushing three times a day and using the antimicrobial mouthwash provided by your orthodontist.
